This course teaches lay rescuers how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child, and infant victims. Rescuers will learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack, stroke and breathing difficulties. Students also learn how to perform CPR using a barrier device and how to effectively use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
ASHI CPR/AED certification card for Adult and Child is issued after all class requirements are met. Certification card is valid for two years.
CPR classes at Sports Basement Walnut Creek are weekly on the first and third Tuesday and second and fourth Wednesday from 6pm to 9pm.
NOTE: Class size is limited and classes typically fill up several weeks in advance. You must be 14 and older to receive a certification card (due to test comprehension and hands-on evaluation). Children under 14 are encouraged to take this course to learn the important skills but will not receive a certification card. Pre-registration is required:
