On behalf of your Rancho San Miguel Association (RSMA), I am excited to invite you to the Annual Egg Hunt in Rancho San Miguel Park on Saturday, March 23rd at 10:30am. Come enjoy the spring weather (we hope!), meet your neighbors, and search for lots of candy eggs! The Egg Hunt is a neighborhood tradition hosted by the RSMA and is free to all residents of Rancho San Miguel.
Over the past year, there have been a number of changes to the Rancho San Miguel Association Board. Kathee Coleman, our president for the past decade, retired at the start of this year, at which point, I, Joe Bunik became President. I grew up in an Eichler in Sunnyvale and have been a proud Eichler owner and resident of Rancho San Miguel since 2009. My family and I have felt truly fortunate to find a wonderful home and community here.
The current RSMA Board includes David German as Vice President, Ana Barreto as Treasurer, Mason Wodhams as Secretary, along with Grant Reiling, Kameron Leal, Phil Toy, Dean Lundstrom, Dan Simoes, and Pat Wolfe as members. In addition to hosting social events to build community (e.g., the Egg Hunt, Halloween Carnival, Annual Dinner, Car Show), the RSMA provides advocacy for our neighborhood for shared concerns. The RSMA serves to enhance and protect the quality of life for all residents when issues impacting the neighborhood arise.
Recently, the board has revised our by-laws to more clearly define the goals of our neighborhood association and provide future direction for the organization. All residents are welcome to participate on committees. Please let us know if you have any interest in serving on one of our committees including:
– Civic committee: to maintain neighborhood integrity and interface with the City of Walnut Creek on neighborhood concerns
– Outreach committee: to build community and host neighborhood events
– Membership committee: to maintain and grow our association
– Communication committee: to improve dialog in the neighborhood using new media
If you have not joined or renewed your annual membership to the RSMA, you can join/renew at the Egg Hunt or look out for our membership drive in May. Annual, per-household dues of $20 go a long way towards supporting our efforts to provide social events and advocacy for the 550 Eichler and Jordan Reed (ranch-style) homes in our neighborhood.
The RSMA Board would like to thank and acknowledge Kathee’s years of service to our community. In addition, we give our appreciation for the efforts and contributions of outgoing board members Michael and Sheila Ford.
I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, March 23 at 10:30am in the Rancho San Miguel Park. Bring a basket!
